Andrew Weibrecht helps Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraiser
On March 6, 2013 the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast New York held its annual fundraiser in Saratoga Springs, less than two hours south of Lake Placid.
It was a memorable occasion for several reasons:
- The $221,000 raised that night was the most in the history of the chapter,
- Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, owned by Ed and Lisa Weibrecht, teamed with son Andrew Weibrecht for the Ultimate Ski Experience. It generated $4,700 and was a record as the highest total ever raised in a live auction item.
Weibrecht (middle), the son of MLI owners Ed and Lisa Weibrecht, met on May 15 at the hotel with Mark Woroby, the Director of Philanthropy for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast New York (right), and Bill Trigg, III, the Northeast chapter CEO (left).
Andrew captured an Olympic bronze medal in the Super G at the Vancouver Winter Olympics, and is currently gearing up to qualify for the 2014 competitions in Sochi, Russia.
The bid winners will get to ski for half a day at Whiteface Mountain with Andrew. In addition they will bask in MLI luxury for three nights and receive daily breakfast.
They will also have unlimited enjoyment of the Lake Placid Olympic venues while they are here, as well as dinners at various establishments in the village.
All money donated is returned to the chapter's general fund. The foundation makes wishes come true for 100 recipients in a 15-county area.
