Pause from Lake Placid activities for book-signing at The Cottage
VAIL, Colo. - Over 100 recipes from nearly 100 master chefs and restaurants are revealed in the new travel cookbook Ski Town Soups, authored by Jennie Iverson, of Vail, Colo.
Among the award-winning and acclaimed soups featured in the book is The Cottage Café’s classic bowl of chili. Iverson will hold a book-signing on Thursday, June 20, from 3-5 PM.
The Cottage Café is owned by Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, at 77 Mirror Lake Drive in Lake Placid, N.Y., and located across the street from the Four Diamond lodging property. Both overlook Mirror Lake.

Iverson recently moved with her family from Afton, Minnesota, to Vail, Colorado, to enjoy outdoor living in a mountain community.

In The Cottage Café, Ski Town Soups has selected a pub long known by ski publications as Lake Placid’s après ski spot, as well as the village’s most popular stop among locals. The establishment is now debuting its’ new menu.

The book was developed by Iverson, a “ski mom” who combined her passion for soup, skiing, travel and the ski town lifestyle to create a must-have souvenir for skiers and food lovers alike. Her coffee table caliber cookbook is a keepsake for individuals looking for nutritional and tasty meals for the whole family, including young children.
Jennie is dedicating a percentage of the proceeds from the sales of the book to the Sowing Seeds Program. This is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation’s Youth Foundation. It works with schools to integrate gardening into their curriculums, thus incorporating fresh produce into the school cafeteria offerings. Ultimately, this connects children to the environment, fosters understanding of the origin of food, and teaches responsibility through stimulating hands-on activities, such as planting gardens.
Many of the flavor profiles in the cookbook originate from fresh and locally-sourced ingredients, which are very close to the hearts of those who contributed to the book.
