In the last decade we have seen more awareness in label reading, natural products, green products, gluten free products and lots of infomercials promising everything under the sun, but ultimately a product has to deliver.
So to all you savvy personal care consumers, if you are looking for a product to deliver, I have a few tips based on scientific evidence supporting these result-oriented products that I would like to share with you.
Follow these three easy steps along with your existing skincare regime and within a short period of time you will be noticing soft, smoother skin, a brighter complexion and a reduction of fine lines.
Your morning routine should already consist of cleansing, toning, moisturizing and sunscreen. That's pretty simple right? So for the first step you will want to incorporate a vitamin C, aka L-ascorbic acid, before you moisturize. This powerful antioxidant helps fight off free radicals produced by UV rays, promotes collagen synthesis and has skin brightening properties.
Vitamin C is first utilized for other bodily functions and is not produced by the body so the skin is vulnerable to deficiency. This powerful antioxidant must be included in the diet with fresh fruits like guavas, kiwi, papayas; vegetables such as leafy greens, peppers, broccoli; a multi-vitamin and with a topical Vitamin C product.
Buyers beware! Not all Vitamin Cs are alike.
The best Vitamin C needs to be in a stable form, low ph and with proper packaging to preserve and retain its efficacy. Skin Ceuticals Vitamin C is one of the best products on the market, created by Dr. Sheldon Pinnell, a leading scientist, globally recognized and named "Founding Father of Topical Antioxidants".
We have three different forms of Vitamin C to choose from at The Spa. Start today by applying several drops to the face and neck every morning. Feel free to stop by and talk to one of our knowledgeable staff members or licensed estheticians to find out which one is best suited for your skin care needs.
The next product to incorporate into your routine will be Vitamin A, aka retinol. This tried-and-true product continues to reign as one of the most potent ingredients in the skin care arsenal. Patented back in 1973, it is still the most proven go-to ingredient for correcting and improving everything from acne, wrinkles and collagen synthesis to hyper-pigmentation. It continues to reign as the unequivocal gold standard of skin care, particularly in treating photo damage. Vitamin A is fat-soluble and not present in the body, and as a result the skin becomes deficient through time. Adding liver, fish, egg yolks, vegetables such as carrots, dark leafy greens, butternut squash, and herbs of parsley, basil and paprika along with a topical Vitamin A will benefit the skin.
This product can be purchased a number of ways: over-the-counter, a prescription drug or at The Spa. Over-the-counter products might fool you but their efficacy and strength cannot deliver the results you're looking for. A prescription drug will be expensive, however The Spa offers two different affordable strengths to choose from, .05 and 1.0. I would recommend starting off slowly and gradually increase as needed. You will only apply this product as a corrective night time treatment. Pick up your retinol treatment today and get started. Apply to normal skin 2-3 times a week and for sensitive skin 1-2 times a week. Stop in or call us for extra tips on applications.
And for the final step on preserving your fountain of youth you will need to incorporate exfoliants and peels. Exfoliants will remove cellular buildup and allow your products to penetrate deeper into the skin. Exfoliants can be done at home 1-2 times a week along with take home peels. We have an array of exfoliants to choose from and a take home peel in regular or extra strength that works best after exfoliation.
Skin peels provide an effective, less expensive and less invasive alternative to surgery. Typically several applications must be administrated over multiple months or several times a year, depending on the condition of your skin and goals to achieve.
Different types of peels can clear blemishes, treat hyperpigmentation, stimulate skin regeneration and reduce fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and improve texture and tone.
